Club Administration and Member Communications

Most SASC administrative activities can be accomplished online at our website. These functions include:

  • New member registration
  • Membership renewal
  • Social event notification and social event registration, when applicable
  • Ski Tour Information and Registration
  • Information on Club Ski Days
  • Carpooling Information
  • Member communications via eMail
  • Information on all SASC activities
  • Calendar of events

Some information is available on our public website. More details and information are available in the members only section of the website.

What's Required To Join?

Prospective members must be 55 year old. You then need standard information about yourself, name, address, birth date, phone number and email address.

This year, we are requesting upload of a photo of photo ID, such as a drivers licence or provincial ID. We want to be able to verify name, address and age. The purpose is two-fold. The first is to verify age. The second is to help protect our members. Without some form of ID, anyone could provide information that would qualify them to join and then attempt to get contact information on a potentially vulnerable group - Seniors. From a privacy perspective, we have no need of a drivers licence number or provincial ID number. You can cover or redact the numbers and bar codes, if you choose. Once we have checked the ID against the information provided on the application form, we will delete the submitted photo.

You then may want to read over our Waiver to which, at some point in the process, you have to accept. Then grab your credit card for the $25 membership fee.

When you have all the information, click 'Join Us' on the top menu bar, fill in the application form, upload the photo and pay the membership fee. A membership volunteer will check your form and your ID, the system will send a email confirming your membership.

If you would like an overview of the system process, please see our How to Join document.

Alternatively, you can come to our Registration Day and apply in person.

Payment Options

SASC accepts cheques, eTransfers and credit cards for most online functions. Details can be found on the Payment Options web page. In person options usually include cheques and cash. Cheques should be made payable to 'Seniors Alpine Ski Club'. SASC cannot currently accept electronic payments at in person functions.

Registration Day/Open House - Saturday October 26, 2024

Registration Day/OpenHouse is an opportunity for current members to meet, socialize and reacquaint with other members. New or prospective members can meet SASC Board Members, other volunteers and Tour Hosts, as well as existing members. It also provides an opportunity to drop off cheques for Tours or Social events. This session is the SASC's in person ski season kickoff. Please plan to drop by and say hello.

Discounted ski area loyalty cards from: Sunshine/Marmot, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies and Lake Louise are available for purchase by cash or cheque only.

Paper forms for registration and tours will be available at the Registration Session for those members who prefer to register this way.

Ski Chatter Newsletter

SASC publishes a newsletter several time a year. It provides information on future and past Club activities as well as news about the ski season and happenings or issues around the Club. SASC sends an email with a link each time a new Ski Chatter is available. Current and back issues of the Ski Chatter are available on the newsletters page of our website.

Name Badges

Members are encouraged to wear name badges at Club events, on Tours, while skiing and at any Club meeting or social activity. Not only do they help other members identify you, they also provide access to some Club activities. Name badges are available at our Registration Session, at the Nakiska opening day or by contacting our badge maker - Linda Charko.

Ski Tours

Detailed information on Ski Tours will usually be available by early October on our website and in the Tours Edition of the Ski Chatter Newsletter. Registration for Tours can be made on our website. Members will be notified by email when online registration opens. Paper forms for tour registration will be available at the Registration Session for those members who prefer to register this way.

It's always a good idea to book your Tours as early as possible because some Tours fill up quickly. You can cancel at any time up until the posted deadline date and your money will be fully refunded or your post-dated cheque destroyed or returned. Cancellations after the deadline date will be subject to our cancellations policy.

After registrations have closed, our Tour Hosts will be in contact with tour participants via email. Tour Hosts will provide Itineraries, transportation details, resort details, agendas and a list of attendees who agree to be listed.

Ski Tour busses generally load at the Valley Ridge Golf Club in Calgary and the Canmore Visitor's Centre in Canmore. Luggage and ski equipment is loaded by a designated volunteer loading crew. See the Tour Terms and Conditions for luggage packing suggestions.

Any additional expenses, such as accommodation and meals due to weather and transportation delays, on any tour will be at the participant's expense.

Tour participants are urged to provide their cellular phone numbers in their system profile. Our system can provide text message capability which is useful when unexpected changes or weather delays take place during a tour.
